"The Sims 1 & 2 Back on PC Today in 25th Birthday Bundle"
EA and Maxis are celebrating the 25th anniversary of the beloved The Sims franchise with a delightful surprise for fans. Today, both The Sims 1 and The Sims 2 are once again available on PC, packaged in two Legacy Collections and the enticing The Sims 25th Birthday Bundle.
EA has announced the release of The Sims: Legacy Collection and The Sims 2: Legacy Collection, available now on PC. These collections can be purchased separately or together in The Sims 25th Birthday Bundle, priced at $40.
Each game comes with all expansions and nearly all stuff packs. Notably, The Sims 2: Legacy Collection is missing the IKEA Home Stuff pack from 2008, but aside from that, every other add-on is included. Both collections also offer bonus content: The Sims 1 includes the Throwback Fit Kit, while The Sims 2 comes with the Grunge Revival Kit, adding even more to the extensive list of extras.
EA's re-release of these classic The Sims games marks the first time in over a decade that both have been readily available for play. The Sims 1, which was only ever released on disc, has been elusive for years; without an old physical copy and the ability to run it on a modern Windows machine, it was virtually unobtainable (expansion packs included!). The Sims 2 was more recently available in 2014 through the Ultimate Collection on EA's Origin store, but that was discontinued. Without prior purchase, The Sims 2 was also out of reach unless you found a physical disc. Now, with these new collections, all four The Sims games are easily purchasable and playable again through digital storefronts.
In our initial reviews, we gave The Sims 1 a 9.5/10 and The Sims 2 an 8.5/10. While the series has since evolved with many new features and refinements, the original games remain worth exploring for their unique charm, simpler gameplay, challenging elements, and historic significance.
The Sims: Legacy Collection and The Sims 2: Legacy Collection are now available on Steam, the Epic Games Store, and through the EA app.
