Sonic Rumble Pre-Registrations Reach 900k, Release Date Set

Sega has officially announced the global release date for Sonic Rumble, providing eager fans with details on when they can dive into the game and what rewards they can expect from the ongoing pre-registration campaign.

On April 9, Sega took to Twitter (X) to reveal that Sonic Rumble will launch worldwide on May 8, 2025. Accompanying this exciting news was a new trailer showcasing some thrilling gameplay footage.

Sonic Rumble marks the first multiplayer party game in the Sonic series, allowing up to 32 players to engage in competitive fun across various levels and gameplay modes. Sega describes the game as, "Players control a character from the Sonic series as they navigate a toy world crafted by the villainous Dr. Eggman, tackling challenging obstacle courses and perilous arenas!"

As a free-to-play title, there were concerns about potential pay-to-win mechanics. However, Sonic Rumble Director Makoto Tase addressed these concerns during an interview with Automaton at the Tokyo Game Show 2024 in September 2024. He assured fans, "We’re aiming for a casual system that allows you to just buy what you want quickly for a small, fixed amount, rather than a gacha system that gives you a certain probability of obtaining items."

Sonic Rumble Reaches Over 900k Pre-Registrations

Following the release date announcement, Sega disclosed that Sonic Rumble has now surpassed 900,000 pre-registrations. This milestone, like others before it, unlocks special in-game rewards for players to enhance their gaming experience from the start.

While Sonic Rumble has yet to hit the final milestone of their pre-registration campaign, the ultimate goal remains undisclosed. Speculation suggests it might be set at 1 million or higher, based on similar campaigns for other games.
