"Star Wars: Hunters Shuts Down Before First Anniversary!"

Star Wars: Hunters, despite its promising premise, has announced its shutdown before even reaching its first anniversary. Yet, it will have the opportunity to celebrate this milestone before closing its doors. The question arises: is it worth celebrating the anniversary of a game that is on its way out?

When Is the Star Wars: Hunters Shutdown?

The servers for Star Wars: Hunters are scheduled to shut down on October 1st, 2025, marking the end of the game's journey after just nine months since its launch. Players are given a grace period to wrap up Season 5, which concludes on April 15th. Zynga, the developer and publisher, is set to release a final content update on the same day, introducing the new Support Hunter, Tuya, available for free. On April 15th, in-game purchases will be disabled, ensuring no further spending.

Ranked Mode will remain active until the servers go offline, and past season events will be rerun, giving players a chance to relive the game's highlights. If you have any unspent Crystals, now is the time to use them as no refunds will be issued.

It Isn’t Shocking

While the shutdown is unfortunate, it may not come as a surprise to many. Star Wars: Hunters faced numerous challenges from the outset. Initially announced in 2020, the game experienced multiple delays and limited beta testing, only available in the SEA and ANZAC regions. The absence of major console support and a lukewarm reception further contributed to its struggles.

From a design perspective, the game missed an opportunity to capitalize on the iconic Star Wars universe. Instead of featuring beloved characters from the franchise, it opted for generic original characters, which may have disappointed fans hoping for a more authentic Star Wars experience.
