Switch 2 Pre-Order Dates and Priority Set for U.S., Canada
Pre-orders for the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 were originally scheduled to launch globally on April 9. However, economic turbulence caused by tariffs imposed by former President Trump led Nintendo to delay pre-orders in the U.S. and Canada, while pre-orders proceeded as planned in other regions, including the UK.
Nintendo has outlined the pre-order process for the My Nintendo Store on its FAQ page. The initial invitations for pre-ordering will be sent out starting May 8, 2025. Subsequent batches of invitation emails will be dispatched periodically until the purchasing window is open to all customers. These invitations will be sent on a first-come, first-serve basis to eligible registrants who meet certain priority criteria. Those who receive an invitation will have 72 hours to complete their purchase.
To qualify for priority access to pre-order the Nintendo Switch 2, customers must meet the following requirements:
- They must have personally purchased a Nintendo Switch Online membership.
- They must have maintained a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership for at least 12 months.
- They must have opted in to share gameplay data and accumulated at least 50 hours of total gameplay.
