In Dynasty Warriors: Origins, you primarily play as the Wanderer, striving for peace. The main storyline presents numerous choices, and companions frequently join you in battle.

While companions fight alongside you, offering significant support, you can temporarily assume control. Their power often surpasses the Wanderer's, making character switching a strategic advantage. Here's how:

Character Switching in Dynasty Warriors: Origins

Switching to a companion is only possible during battles where a companion is present. Before battle, the companion selection is the last option in the pre-battle menu. You can choose to fight solo, but companion switching isn't available then. Once the battle starts, your companion's health bar appears below yours in the bottom right corner.

Beneath their health bar is a blue bar, similar to your Musou gauge. This fills by:

• Parrying attacks
• Perfect dodging
• Attacking officers
• Utilizing weapon arts

Most combat actions contribute to filling this bar, albeit at varying speeds.

A "Change Character" button appears beside the companion's blue bar once it's full. Press and hold this button (View button on Xbox, C on PC, or Touchpad on PlayStation) for approximately one second to switch characters.

Playing as Companions in Dynasty Warriors: Origins

Switching characters mid-battle is recommended, as companions are exceptionally strong. Control typically lasts about a minute; the blue bar gradually depletes, indicating the remaining time. Your new character begins with full Bravery and a range of effective combat arts.

The character switch initiates with a powerful attack, so target an enemy strategically. The companion also possesses a full Musou gauge and health bar, enabling immediate use of their special attack.
