Techland Confirms No Retouched Update for Nintendo Switch, Rules Out Switch 2 Port
The Dying Light: Retouched update, launching tomorrow, will bring upgraded graphics and revamped audio to Techland’s original zombie parkour experience on PC and consoles, but Nintendo Switch users will miss out.
Yesterday, the studio detailed its plans for the free update, unveiling a content refresh that revitalizes the 10-year-old post-apocalyptic classic. Enhanced textures, improved lighting, and a fully overhauled audio experience are among the highlights for players on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X | S. The Nintendo Switch, however, is notably absent from the supported platforms.

IGN contacted Techland to inquire about a possible Dying Light: Retouched update for Nintendo Switch and its potential future release. A studio spokesperson confirmed it’s not planned.
“The Dying Light: Retouched Update will not be available on Nintendo Switch,” Techland stated in an email.
Dying Light debuted on Nintendo’s hybrid console in 2021 as a comprehensive Platinum Edition bundle. Its sales performance remains unclear, though its availability was impacted by a German ban, making it unpurchasable digitally on the Switch eShop in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand.
Those anticipating a Retouched update or similar release for the Nintendo Switch 2 will also be disappointed. For now, Dying Light is only accessible on Nintendo’s new console through backward compatibility.
“We have no plans for a Switch 2 port of the original Dying Light at this time,” Techland clarified. “Our current focus is on delivering Dying Light: The Beast on August 22, 2025, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. We have no updates regarding Nintendo Switch 2.”
Techland’s support for Nintendo fans is thus limited to Dying Light: Platinum Edition on the original Switch. Dying Light 2: Stay Human – Cloud Version was announced for Switch in 2021 but never launched, despite its 2022 release on other platforms. No timeline exists for its potential release.
Meanwhile, Dying Light: The Beast, a spinoff featuring original protagonist Kyle Crane, will exclude Nintendo platforms at its August 22 launch for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X | S. Franchise Director Tymon Smektała told Wccftech last week that Techland is eager to bring The Beast to Switch 2 but has “no announcements” yet.
Dying Light: Retouched will introduce significant enhancements to the decade-old zombie title upon its launch tomorrow. Learn more in the developer’s blog post here. You can also read our original 8.5/10 Dying Light review here.
