Tony Hawk Aims for Underground Remake

by Jack Jun 20,2025

If you’ve been itching for a revival of Tony Hawk's Underground, you're not the only one — Tony Hawk himself is rooting for it, too.

"I always have aspirations," Hawk shared with ScreenRant. "It's not really up to me in the end. I’ll push as much as I can, but I'm working with a much bigger company that makes the big decisions."

When asked whether Activision had hinted at what might come after the release of Pro Skater 3 + 4, Hawk remained tight-lipped: "We haven’t even released this game [yet]!"

Tony Hawk's Underground originally dropped back in 2003 and earned an impressive 9.2 out of 10 from us thanks to its "virtually flawless" level design and "stellar gameplay." It was the first entry in the franchise that allowed players to step off their skateboards and explore expansive environments on foot — a fresh twist that elevated the series.

Play*Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4* is scheduled to launch on Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One on July 11, 2025. Activision is curating the official *THPS 3 + 4* playlist on Spotify and regularly updating it as more tracks are revealed — check out the latest additions in our full soundtrack list here.

"In an era where nearly every early 2000s game is getting a modern remake, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 is shaping up to be a standout title this year," we noted in IGN's Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4 first impressions preview.

"With its faithful recreation of what made the PS2-era originals unforgettable, combined with modern quality-of-life enhancements, a killer soundtrack, and an overall tribute to the series' golden age, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 is definitely worth keeping on your radar — especially if you're into skateboarding, action sports games, or just looking for something fun and straightforward. It might just be the easiest kickflip you land all year."
