I'm aware that my Dead Rails class tier list might stir some controversy, but it's necessary. You can't go wrong with the Vampire, even after numerous updates, but the Survivalist has surged in popularity recently. It's disappointing to see the Zombie class still struggling, unable to consume Snake Oil. Teamwork plays a role, but it's secondary. Remember, it's all about enjoying the game with friends, not just about optimizing every detail.

You've probably guessed it—these classes excel in raw damage output. The Survivalist and Vampire are the cream of the crop. While the Ironclad is a strong contender, the top spots are dominated by these two:
**Name** | **Cost** | **Info** |
Survivalist | 75 | The Survivalist starts with a Tomahawk and becomes even more lethal as your health decreases. Even at full health, you deal more damage than most, though a nerf might be on the horizon. This class excels against tougher enemies that are hard to take down. While other classes can manage, none match the Survivalist's punch. |
Vampire | 75 | The Vampire focuses on speed and aggression, outpacing horses and sprinting zombies. Your melee attacks are devastating, often downing zombies in just three hits. The downside is vulnerability to sunlight, requiring you to stay in the shadows. However, the Vampire Knife heals you with each hit, making survival about maintaining pressure. |

This tier includes excellent classes that are not as strong in solo survival but still pack a punch. They offer good damage output and starting gear, though they shine more in team settings. Ironclad stands out with significant potential.
**Name** | **Cost** | **Info** |
Ironclad | 100 | The Ironclad is geared for battle with full armor, making you much harder to kill but slightly slower. It's not ideal for solo runs; you'll need a teammate to watch your back. In a team, shotguns are your best weapon, perfect for close-quarters combat. |
Cowboy | 50 | The Cowboy starts strong with a revolver, ammo, and a horse, easing early-game combat and providing speed to survive chaotic moments, especially during Blood Moon nights. With the Game Pass, selling the revolver can boost your starting funds for a better loadout. It's an affordable choice with great value. |
Priest | 75 | The Priest comes equipped with Crucifixes and Holy Water, effective against enemies but unsellable. You're immune to lightning, making storms irrelevant. Not ideal for solo play, but invaluable in larger teams where your throwables can shift the battle in your favor. |
Arsonist | 20 | The Arsonist thrives in chaos, using Molotovs and enhanced fire damage to clear groups quickly. Ideal for small areas where you can control the pace, and a horse enhances your hit-and-run strategy. |

These classes are specialists, shining in specific situations. The Doctor, for instance, offers great value at a low cost but isn't a damage dealer. All three are invaluable in group settings.
**Name** | **Cost** | **Info** |
The Alamo | 50 | The Alamo is about fortification, starting with Sheet Metal, Barbed Wire, and a helmet to secure the Train early. It's not flashy, but it's effective for holding off enemy waves. |
Doctor | 15 | The Doctor is your lifeline in dire situations, equipped with healing supplies and the ability to revive teammates at the cost of half their health. It's one of the cheapest classes, but its value in group play is unmatched. Selling bandages and snake oil can give you a $40 boost. |
Miner | 15 | The Miner excels at resource gathering and nighttime exploration, with a helmet for visibility and a Pickaxe for quick ore mining. They come with Coal to start, making them one of the most affordable classes. While not combat-focused, their utility is significant. |

These classes offer utility but are less effective in solo scenarios. The Conductor is almost essential in a five-stack team. The Horse class, a novelty from the April Fools event, is more of a meme than a reliable choice.
**Name** | **Cost** | **Info** |
Conductor | 50 | The Conductor controls the Train, starting with Coal and able to reach speeds up to 84 for quick escapes. They lack a melee weapon at spawn, making them vulnerable early on. Ensure they're protected; they keep the team moving. They no longer suffer health penalties, making them slightly more durable. |
Horse | Unlockable through the Horsing Around gamemode | The Horse Class transforms you into a horse, unlocked during the 2025 April Fools "Horsing Around" event. You get standard horse stats but face challenges in tight spaces and can't ride other horses or the train. |
High Roller | 50 | The High Roller earns 1.5x money from bags, ideal for early-game wealth accumulation. However, you're more likely to get struck by lightning during storms, embodying the high-risk, high-reward playstyle. |

Every tier has its bottom, and these classes are it. The None class is a basic starting point, perfect for beginners. The Zombie class, on the other hand, is nearly unusable.
**Name** | **Cost** | **Info** |
None | Free | The None class is the default, providing just a shovel and whatever you can scavenge. No perks or drawbacks, it's ideal for saving up bonds and learning your playstyle before choosing a class. |
Zombie | 75 | The Zombie feeds on corpses for healing and can slip past enemies easily. Without access to Bandages or Snake Oil, it relies on stealth and sustainability. Unfortunately, it remains ineffective. |
That's all for now! I hope this Dead Rails class tier list helps you set new records and conquer those mobs effortlessly. Don't forget to check out Dead Rails codes and learn about Dead Rails challenges. Who knows what the next update will bring?
