Ubisoft Unveils Customization and Progression in Assassin's Creed: Shadows

Ubisoft has unveiled an exciting new article on the gameplay mechanics of *Assassin's Creed: Shadows*, with a deep dive into the equipment and progression systems for the game's protagonists, Yasuke and Naoe. One of the highlights that fans will undoubtedly celebrate is the enhanced capabilities of the iconic Hidden Blade.
Both characters come equipped with unique skill trees that cater to their distinct combat styles. Yasuke, the samurai, will have access to a range of samurai techniques, while Naoe, the shinobi, will focus on stealth and agility-based skills. Players can allocate skill points to unlock new weapon-specific abilities or enhance their fighting techniques. Mastery points, essential for progression, are earned by tackling open-world challenges or vanquishing formidable opponents like the Daisyo samurai.
To maintain a balanced experience, the game ensures that both characters progress at a similar pace, avoiding any significant disparity in development. Unlocking powerful new abilities often involves specific in-game tasks, such as tracking down elusive shinobi factions. Additionally, players can advance through the "Knowledge" scale by engaging with the game's world, whether through studying ancient manuscripts or participating in spiritual practices at shrines. Achieving the sixth rank in Knowledge opens up an entirely new skill tree, expanding the possibilities for character development.
Ubisoft also provided insights into the equipment system, which features items categorized into five tiers of quality: common, uncommon, rare, epic, and legendary. Players can upgrade their gear at a blacksmith and even personalize their equipment's appearance. Special perks associated with armor and weapons have the potential to significantly alter gameplay, offering strategic advantages.
The Hidden Blade remains a cornerstone of the *Assassin's Creed* experience, now capable of delivering instant kills with a single, precise strike. *Assassin's Creed: Shadows* is set to launch globally on March 20, available on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5.
