World of Warcraft Adding Heartfelt Tribute NPC in Patch 11.1

World of Warcraft Patch 11.1: A Tribute to Mats Steen and Undermine's New Content

World of Warcraft's upcoming Patch 11.1 is shaping up to be a significant update, bringing new content to Undermine and a touching tribute to a beloved player. Dataminers have uncovered evidence of Lord Ibelin Redmoore, an NPC directly inspired by the character of Mats Steen, the subject of the documentary "The Remarkable Life of Ibelin." This addition serves as a heartfelt memorial to Steen, who passed away in 2014.

The patch, expected around February 25th, will introduce fresh adventures in the Goblin city of Undermine. However, Lord Ibelin Redmoore stands out as a unique addition, unrelated to Undermine's storyline. The NPC's title, Private Investigator, reflects Steen's renowned roleplaying career in WoW, where he was a well-known figure in the Starlight guild, interacting with numerous players around Stormwind.

Speculation surrounds Ibelin Redmoore's in-game role. Some players believe he may be found in Stormwind taverns, while others suggest he might follow a route mirroring Steen's real-life travels within the game. The possibility of an early appearance on the Public Test Realm (PTR) also exists.

This isn't the first time World of Warcraft has honored Steen's memory. A replica of his grave exists in Elwynn Forest, and a Reven fox pet and backpack were recently sold for charity to support CureDuchenne. The inclusion of Lord Ibelin Redmoore further underscores the profound impact Steen had on the WoW community. Patch 11.1 promises both exciting new content and a moving tribute to a cherished player.
