World of Warcraft Patch 11.1 Adding Two New Types of Races

Summary
- World of Warcraft Patch 11.1 introduces Breakneck D.R.I.V.E. races and thrilling Skyrocket races utilizing Goblin jetpacks.
- Undermine, the new zone in Patch 11.1, disables flying, instead offering customizable D.R.I.V.E. cars and jetpack-powered racing.
- Skyrocket races present a unique challenge, combining speed, ring collection, and increasingly difficult maneuverability as racers accelerate.
World of Warcraft Patch 11.1, "Undermined," introduces two exciting new race types: Breakneck D.R.I.V.E. races and Skyrocket races featuring Goblin jetpacks. These replace traditional Skyriding races in the new Undermine zone, the subterranean Goblin capital city. Undermine's unique design prohibits flying, encouraging players to master the customizable D.R.I.V.E. cars for high-speed ground-based racing. Breakneck races fully utilize the D.R.I.V.E. system's potential, offering intense competition.
Complementing the ground-based racing, Skyrocket races provide an aerial alternative. Players utilize Goblin jetpacks for a unique flight experience, balancing the control of traditional flying with the momentum-based mechanics of Skyriding. Racers accelerate with each collected ring, but increased speed reduces maneuverability, adding a layer of strategic challenge. Footage from the Public Test Realm (PTR), showcased by WoW content creator MrGM, highlights this dynamic gameplay.
New Skyrocket Races in World of Warcraft Patch 11.1
The absence of Skyriding in Undermine also eliminates traditional Skyriding races. Both Breakneck and Skyrocket races offer achievements for completing each course with Bronze, Silver, and Gold times. Reverse versions of all races are included, though advanced or challenge courses, common in Skyriding races, are absent.
All Skyrocket and Breakneck Races in World of Warcraft Patch 11.1
Initial player reactions to Skyrocket races are mixed. While some anticipate the new challenge, others express concerns about the perceived stiffness and lack of responsiveness compared to Skyriding. However, with Patch 11.1 still under development, further refinements are expected before the races' February release.
