Following the successful launch of Quidditch Champions, Warner Bros. Discovery has officially announced plans for a Hogwarts Legacy sequel, building on the phenomenal success of the 2023 best-selling game.

A Sequel Expected Within a Few Years

During the Bank of America’s 2024 Media, Communications & Entertainment Conference, Warner Bros. Discovery CFO Gunnar Wiedenfels confirmed the development of a Hogwarts Legacy sequel. The original game, a Harry Potter-themed action RPG, sold over 24 million copies since its release. Wiedenfels highlighted the sequel's importance, stating, "Obviously, a successor to Hogwarts Legacy is one of the biggest priorities in a couple of years down the road...there is certainly a significant growth contribution from that [games] business in our strategic outlook here."

Warner Bros. Games' David Haddad previously emphasized the game's high replayability as a key factor in its success. In an earlier interview with Variety, Haddad noted the game's remarkable reception, stating, "Many players have gone back and played the game more than once...It brought Harry Potter to life in a new way for gamers where they could be themselves in this world, in this story." This immersive experience, Haddad believes, is what truly resonated with players, propelling Hogwarts Legacy to the top of the sales charts. He added, "That’s a position that typically is held by one of these incumbent’s sequel games and we’re so proud that we’ve been able to break into the top ranks."
