Netflix's Witcher Animated Movie Comes February

Netflix is set to captivate audiences with the latest addition to The Witcher universe—a brand new animated movie titled The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep. Mark your calendars for February 11, 2025, and dive into this exciting spinoff!

Set in a Seaside Village in the Continent

As revealed by Netflix Tudum, the official news site, The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep is slated to premiere on February 11, 2025. This animated feature draws inspiration from "A Little Sacrifice," a short story penned by the legendary Andrzej Sapkowski, found in the collection Sword of Destiny.

Set against the backdrop of a picturesque seaside village, the film delves into the age-old tension between humans and merpeople. A kingdom from the Continent, grappling with this conflict, enlists the services of a Witcher. In a departure from battling familiar creatures like the Basilisk and Cockatrice, Geralt of Rivia faces a new challenge with the merpeople.

Returning to voice Geralt is the talented Doug Cockle, while Joey Batey and Anya Chalotra reprise their roles as Jaskier and Yennefer of Vengerberg. Joining them is Christina Wren from the Will Trent TV series, who voices a new character, Essi Daven.

Andrzej Sapkowski himself contributes as a creative consultant, ensuring the film remains true to his vision. The screenplay is crafted by Mike Ostrowski and Rae Benjamin, writers from the live-action series, and the direction is helmed by Kang Hei Chul, the storyboard artist behind The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf.

Takes Place During Season 1 of The Witcher’s Live-Adaptation Series

The narrative of The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep unfolds between episodes 5 and 6 of the first season of the live-action series. Following the events of "Bottled Appetites," where Geralt and Yennefer reunite in Rinde after freeing a Djinn, Geralt is commissioned by a kingdom to address a monster-related issue along its shores.

Given the geographical closeness of Rinde to the coastal regions of Redania and Temeria, it's plausible that the film's setting is nestled between these two nations. Specifically, if adhering closely to the setting in "A Little Sacrifice," the story may unfold in Bremervoord City in Temeria, ruled by Duke Agloval. As the release date approaches, fans eagerly await to see how closely the movie aligns with the original short story's setting and plot.
