Zelda Speedrunner's 10-Minute Boss Victory Amazes at Nintendo Switch 2 Event
A speedrunner of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild achieved an impressive feat at the Nintendo Switch 2 Experience in Japan, where playtime was limited to just 10 minutes. Japanese content creator Ikaboze, as reported by VGC, used an existing save file without prior knowledge of Link’s equipment. In a bold move, Ikaboze decided to "defeat the final boss while tied up completely naked and with all my equipment removed." Starting from a save that led directly to the final boss fight with Ganon, Ikaboze managed to defeat the boss in just seven minutes, earning spontaneous applause from onlookers.

The achievement was particularly notable because Ikaboze was using an unfamiliar controller and couldn't hear the game due to the noise of the convention hall. "I was surprised by how many people had gathered," Ikaboze remarked. "Staff were even filming on their smartphones. This was the first time anyone had completed the Breath of the Wild demo, and staff congratulated me."
The Nintendo Switch 2 Enhanced Edition of Breath of the Wild boasts improved visuals and performance, achievements, and support for the new "Zelda Notes" service within the Nintendo Switch Online app. Owners of the original Breath of the Wild on the Switch can access these enhancements by purchasing an "upgrade pack" for $10. Both Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom upgrade packs are available at no additional cost to Nintendo Switch Online and Expansion Pack subscribers.
Here's how much Nintendo Switch 2 Edition games cost in the U.S. for those not upgrading:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Kirby and The Forgotten Land - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star Crossed World - $79.99
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition - $69.99
- Super Mario Party Jamboree - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV - $79.99
- The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition - $79.99
Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders went live on April 24, with the price set at $449.99 — and they went about as well as you'd expect. Nintendo has issued a warning to U.S. customers who pre-ordered from the My Nintendo Store, stating that release date delivery is not guaranteed due to high demand.
