**Understanding Tongits: Players & Cards**

Tongits is a strategic game for three players, utilizing a standard 52-card Anglo-American deck, without jokers. The card rankings within each suit follow the order: Ace (1 point), 2-10 (face value), Jack, Queen, and King (10 points each).

**Mastering the Objective**

The goal is to form sets and runs through drawing and discarding, aiming to minimize the points of unmatched cards in your hand. A run includes three or more consecutive cards of the same suit (e.g., ♥4, ♥5, ♥6), while a set comprises three or four cards of the same rank (e.g., ♥7, ♣7, ♦7). Remember, a card can only be part of one combination at a time.

**The Deal: Setting Up for Success**

The dealer is chosen randomly for the first round and then rotates to the winner of each subsequent hand. The dealer receives 13 cards, while the other two players get 12 each, dealt counterclockwise. The remaining cards form the stock, placed face down.

**The Play: Your Path to Victory**

Each turn involves three key actions:

• **Draw**: Start by taking a card from either the stock or the discard pile, but you can only take from the discard pile if you can create a meld with it, which you must then expose.
• **Exposing Melds**: Optionally, expose valid sets or runs on the table. Opening your hand requires at least one meld. If you can meld a set of four without drawing from the discard pile, you can lay it face down to keep it secret and still open your hand.
• **Laying Off (Sapaw)**: Optionally, add cards to existing melds on the table, whether yours or others'. This action doesn't require an opened hand and can affect the next player's ability to draw from the discard pile.
• **Discard**: End your turn by discarding one card face up onto the discard pile.
