VNeID Application: Electronic Identification and Authentication

The VNeID application, developed by the National Population Data Center under the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam, leverages population data for electronic identification and authentication purposes. This application is designed for individuals residing and traveling within Vietnam.

Key Features and Benefits

Digital Replacement for Traditional Documents: VNeID serves as a digital alternative to traditional identification papers, facilitating the development of digital citizenship, government, and society. It allows citizens to efficiently submit medical reports and domestic travel declarations.

Support for Public Health: The application aids authorities in tracking secondary COVID-19 infections and promptly notifying affected individuals.

Access Permissions

By using the VNeID application, users consent to the following access permissions:

1. Internet Access: The application requires internet access from the user's device.
2. Camera Access: To scan the QR code on the Citizen Identification Card (CCCD), which speeds up the entry of basic citizen information and facilitates quick scanning for travel and medical declarations.
3. Media and File Access: The application needs access to photos, videos, audios, and files to store QR code images for verification at citizen checkpoints.
4. Notification Permissions: The app will send notifications to the user's device.

Personal Information Collection

Users input data and provide medical and domestic travel information, either for themselves or on behalf of others with their consent. The collected personal information includes:

• Full name
• Phone number
• Citizen identification
• Gender
• Year of birth
• Permanent address
• Nationality
• Health status
• Place of departure and destination
• Vehicle number plate
• Exposure to individuals with COVID-19

All information is collected with explicit user permission through form submissions.

User Responsibility: Users are solely responsible for the accuracy and legality of the information they provide.

Privacy and Copyright Protection

User data is securely stored by the National Population Data Center and the Ministry of Public Security. It is used exclusively for COVID-19 prevention and control, health protection, and disease prevention, and is not used for commercial purposes or to infringe on private life.

Data Sharing: Data may be shared with health authorities and other competent authorities to enhance COVID-19 prevention efforts.

Limited Use: The application developer does not collect or use user information for any purposes beyond those specified. No information will be disclosed that could harm or lead to illegal acts against user privacy, as per Vietnamese law and the application's policy.

No Location Tracking: VNeID does not collect location data.

Anonymity: Users engage anonymously within the community. Only competent authorities can identify individuals infected or suspected of infection due to close contact with COVID-19 cases for tracing purposes.
