Assassin's Creed Shadows' First DLC, "Claws of Awaji," Leaks on Steam

A Steam leak has reportedly revealed details about "Claws of Awaji," the first DLC for the upcoming Assassin's Creed Shadows. This expansion, set in feudal Japan, promises a significant amount of new content.

Assassin's Creed Shadows, the highly anticipated installment set in 16th-century Japan, features dual protagonists: Yasuke, a Samurai, and Naoe, a Shinobi. The game's development has faced numerous setbacks, including negative feedback and multiple delays, the most recent pushing the launch date to March 20, 2025.

The leaked information, sourced from a now-deleted Steam update, details "Claws of Awaji" as including a new region to explore, a fresh weapon type, additional skills, gear, and abilities. The expansion is expected to add over 10 hours of gameplay. Pre-ordering the game will reportedly grant access to both the DLC and a bonus mission.

Delayed Release and Ubisoft's Uncertain Future

The leak follows another delay announcement for Assassin's Creed Shadows. Initially slated for November 15, 2024, the release was first postponed to February 14, 2025, and then again to March 20, 2025, to allow for further polishing. This latest delay coincides with ongoing speculation about a potential Tencent buyout of Ubisoft, a company currently facing challenges following the underperformance of several major titles.

The "Claws of Awaji" DLC leak adds another layer to the complex narrative surrounding Assassin's Creed Shadows' troubled journey to release. While the leaked content is exciting, it also highlights the ongoing uncertainty surrounding both the game and its parent company.
