Battlefield 6 Will Release in October for $80, Leak Suggests — and There's an Open Beta Coming, Too
Battlefield 6 is set for an October release, arriving on October 10, 2025, with a price tag of $79.99 for the standard edition. This information comes from well-known leaker Dealabs' Billbil-kun, who confirms the release date and details surrounding the game’s editions and pricing. The standard edition will be available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, while a premium Phantom edition will retail for $109.99—though the PC version will be priced $10 lower than its console counterparts.
Pre-orders are expected to launch on July 31, just one week from now. However, players should note that there will be no early access granted, regardless of the edition purchased—a departure from common industry practices. Standard edition owners will have the option to upgrade to the Phantom edition at any time for an additional $29.99.
An open beta is officially on the horizon, as confirmed by the Battlefield team via social media. In a recent post, the official account teased players by asking whether they preferred open or closed weapon systems, then added: "why not both?" The message continued, “Starting at Open Beta, players can choose official playlists with Signature Weapons locked to class, or not. More to come.”
EA is preparing to fully unveil Battlefield 6 with its first official trailer set to drop on July 24 at 8am PT. Ahead of the big reveal, a short campaign teaser was released yesterday, shedding light on the game’s narrative direction. Set in the near future, the campaign centers on a global conflict as NATO faces a coordinated assault. Key events include a direct attack on NATO’s base in Georgia, the invasion of Gibraltar—a British Overseas Territory—and the assassination of NATO’s secretary general within the Brussels headquarters by a group known as Pax Armata.
The journey to this moment has been long. Battlefield 6 was first acknowledged back in 2021, shortly after the release of Battlefield 2042, when EA confirmed ongoing development on future entries in the franchise. Since then, only minimal official details emerged, including confirmation of a modern-day setting and a glimpse of early concept art. Most of the insights have come from leaks and participants in closed Battlefield Labs tests.
The Battlefield playtest has been notably transparent, with developer DICE stating they’ve received "loads of feedback from the very active testers selected." In contrast to the lukewarm reception of Battlefield 2042, early reactions to Battlefield 6 have been largely positive, with EA seemingly allowing some leaks to circulate rather than enforcing strict NDAs. So far, gameplay footage and tester reports have revealed features such as a new drag mechanic, the ability to cling to vehicles, enhanced movement systems, 3D maps, advanced destruction mechanics, various quality of life improvements, and glimpses of what appears to be the start of a battle royale match.
