Clair Obscur Studio Announces Official Esquie Plushie, Cautions About Scams

by Camila May 17,2025

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 boasts an array of unforgettable characters, yet none capture hearts quite like Esquie, the game's endearing giant companion who could easily be mistaken for a mascot. Sandfall Interactive, the game's developer, has issued a warning about fraudulent merchandise sales related to Esquie, while simultaneously teasing the creation of an official Esquie plush toy.

In a recent post on X/Twitter from the official Expedition 33 account, Sandfall Interactive highlighted the emergence of "suspicious" websites selling Esquie plushies. The studio clarified, "To be clear: any third-party websites selling Esquie plushies are NOT officially licensed. Many of them are using AI-generated artwork to advertise, and we strongly recommend against purchasing from these sources. They could be scams."

Balancing the excitement with caution, as Esquie might say, Sandfall confirmed their plans to produce official Esquie plushies and are eager to release them as soon as possible. "In the meantime, please be patient — and don’t get scammed!" the studio urged.

For those who have immersed themselves in the world of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, the high demand for an Esquie plushie is understandable. If you're yet to embark on Expedition 33, Esquie is a giant helper you encounter in Act 1, who not only becomes your traveling companion but also your mode of overworld travel. His charm and demeanor draw comparisons to Baymax from Big Hero 6.

Given Esquie's appeal, the interest in an official plush version is clear. A quick Google search reveals both unofficial websites and discussions about Esquie plush sellers. Fans eager for the authentic product from Sandfall and Kepler will need to exercise patience. There's no word yet on whether the real-life plushie will also contain wine, adding a humorous twist to the anticipation.

Last week, Sandfall Interactive rolled out patch 1.2.3 for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, which included balance adjustments to Maelle's Stendhal ability. Additionally, French President Emmanuel Macron recently lauded the game, describing its developers as a "shining example of French audacity and creativity."
