Classic DOOM and DOOM 2 have received an update

While eagerly anticipating the release of DOOM: The Dark Ages, many fans are revisiting the classic DOOM and DOOM 2 games. The developers have not only resumed their work but have also enhanced these timeless titles with a recent update, improving their technical performance and adding new features.

The update brings significant improvements to the multiplayer aspect of the games. Support for multiplayer mods has been added, ensuring compatibility with mods created using Vanilla DOOM, DeHackEd, MBF21, or BOOM. Players can now collect items during cooperative play, and an observer mode has been introduced for those waiting to be revived. The network code for multiplayer has been optimized, and the mod loader now supports over 100 mods that players subscribe to, enhancing the gameplay experience.

Shifting focus to the highly anticipated DOOM: The Dark Ages, the developers are committed to making the game as accessible as possible. Executive producer Marty Stratton has emphasized that the game will offer extensive customization options, far surpassing previous id Software projects. Players will have the ability to adjust the aggression levels of demons through the game settings, tailoring the experience to their preferences.

DOOM: The Dark Ages will allow players to modify various gameplay elements, including enemy damage, difficulty, projectile speed, and the damage players receive. Additional customization options include adjusting the game's tempo, the level of aggression, and the parry timing. Stratton has also confirmed that understanding the narratives of DOOM: The Dark Ages and DOOM: Eternal does not require playing both games, ensuring that new players can dive right into the action.
