"Days Gone Remastered: Now with Adjustable Game Speed"
Excitement is building as *Days Gone Remastered* draws closer to release, and today Sony’s Bend Studio offered a deeper look into the accessibility enhancements coming with the updated version of the game. Among the standout features is the new Game Speed control, which allows players to adjust the pace of gameplay when things heat up—perfect for those who find high-intensity moments challenging.
In a recent PlayStation Blog post, Kevin McAllister, Creative & Product Lead at Bend Studio, outlined the expanded accessibility options built into *Days Gone Remastered*. One of the most impactful additions is the ability to modify the game speed in real-time, giving players the option to slow things down to 75%, 50%, or even 25% of normal speed. As McAllister explained, this feature was designed specifically to help players who may feel overwhelmed during intense combat situations.
“Game Speed is ideal for players who might feel overwhelmed in certain situations or have difficulty with various inputs in high pressure moments, specifically fighting off hordes of Freakers,” said McAllister. “Hordes are a pillar in Days Gone gameplay and with our new Horde Assault mode arriving in the remaster, we wanted to make this unique combat experience more accessible to our players.”
Beyond gameplay pacing, *Days Gone Remastered* also introduces a suite of accessibility tools including customizable subtitle colors, adjustable High Contrast Mode settings, UI Narration, and audio cues for collectibles. Additionally, the auto-complete Quick Time Event (QTE) feature, once limited to Easy difficulty, will now be available across all difficulty levels—from Easy to Survival II.
These accessibility improvements won’t just be exclusive to the remastered console version. Bend Studios confirmed that most of the new features will also roll out to the PC edition of *Days Gone*, although some functions like advanced feedback and controller customization will require the use of a compatible controller.
First revealed back in February, *Days Gone Remastered* brings more than just visual upgrades and smoother performance. The update includes enhanced Photo Mode capabilities, permadeath and speedrun modes, and—most importantly—an improved accessibility framework aimed at welcoming a broader audience into the world of Deacon St. John.
Mark your calendars: *Days Gone Remastered* launches on April 25, 2025. Owners of the original PS4 version can upgrade to the PS5 remastered edition for just $10, making it an accessible and rewarding return to one of PlayStation’s most memorable open-world adventures.
