FF7 Rebirth DLC Will Only Come If Fans Request It
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth PC Version: Modding, DLC, and Enhancements Revealed
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth director Naoki Hamaguchi recently shed light on the PC version of the game, addressing player anticipation for DLC and the modding community. The full interview can be found on the Epic Games blog post from December 13th.
DLC: A Matter of Player Demand
While the development team initially considered adding episodic DLC to the PC release, resource constraints prioritized completing the final installment of the Remake trilogy. Hamaguchi stated that adding new content is not currently planned, but he's receptive to player feedback. Substantial player demand could influence future DLC decisions.

A Message to Modders: Creativity with Responsibility
The PC version won't have official mod support, but Hamaguchi acknowledges the inevitable interest from the modding community. He extended a welcome to creative modding, while emphasizing a request for responsible content creation, specifically avoiding offensive or inappropriate modifications. The team respects the community's creativity but wants to ensure a positive player experience.

PC Version Improvements: Enhanced Visuals and Mini-Game Adjustments
The PC release boasts graphical upgrades, including improved lighting and higher-resolution textures, surpassing the PS5 version's capabilities on powerful PCs. Addressing a common criticism of the original version, lighting rendering has been adjusted to mitigate the "uncanny valley" effect on character faces. However, adapting the numerous mini-games for PC proved challenging, requiring unique key configuration settings.

The PC version of FF7 Rebirth will launch on Steam and the Epic Games Store on January 23, 2025. This follows the game's critically acclaimed PS5 release on February 9, 2024. For more detailed information, refer to our dedicated FF7 Rebirth article.
