"Guide: Defeating and Capturing Quematrice in Monster Hunter Wilds"

Are you ready to take on the fearsome Quematrice in *Monster Hunter Wilds* but worried about getting scorched and losing your precious meat? Don’t worry, brave hunter, we've got your back! In this guide, we'll delve into its weaknesses, effective strategies, attacks you need to dodge, and how to not just defeat, but also capture this fiery beast.

How to Beat Quematrice in Monster Hunter Wilds

The Quematrice, a giant chicken-like monster reminiscent of the Cockatrice, breathes fire instead of turning people to stone. Thankfully, it's a mid-sized monster, making most weapons effective against it. However, since many of its attacks affect the area around it, you might prefer a weapon with range if you're less confident in close combat.

Its weaknesses include water, while it has no specific resistances and is immune to Sonic Bombs. When it comes to its attacks, watch out for the tail strikes and sweeps, which can deal damage, but the heaviest hit comes from the tail slam when you're positioned behind it. The Quematrice lifts its tail high before slamming it down, so sidestepping or blocking can save you from this attack.

The real danger lies in its fire attacks, which not only deal immediate damage but can also set you and the ground ablaze, continuously draining your health. These attacks are tricky because they lack a clear tell. The Quematrice might rear its head slightly and roar before igniting a flame from its tail, or it could perform a full sweep after a similar roar, hitting everything around it with fire. It can even use this as part of a charging attack, running towards you before turning at the last second to fling fire in your direction. If you're using a ranged weapon, start moving backward to avoid these fiery assaults.

How to Capture Quematrice in Monster Hunter Wilds

Capturing the Quematrice requires the right gear. Make sure to bring a Shock Trap and a Pitfall Trap, along with at least two Tranq Bombs. While one trap is technically enough, having a backup is crucial in *Monster Hunter* games, especially if the monster flees or another creature triggers it.

Once you've weakened the Quematrice to the point where it's limping, or you notice the skull icon on the mini-map, it's time to set up your trap. For simplicity, wait until the monster moves to a new area after limping. Place your trap, lure the Quematrice into it, and then throw two Tranq Bombs to secure your capture.
