Hopetown Revealed: A Narrative-Driven RPG Echoing Disco Elysium

by Hazel Dec 03,2025

Hopetown, a nonlinear RPG crafted by Longdue Games, delivers an immersive narrative experience. Established by former ZA/UM, Rockstar Games, and Bungie staff, the studio has unveiled initial gameplay details, marking the title as a spiritual successor to Disco Elysium. The story follows a journalist waking in a mining town after a night of heavy drinking. Grappling with a severe hangover, players must unravel past events and navigate escalating local disputes, deciding whether to ease tensions or intensify conflicts.

Various archetypes provide distinct dialogue options and conversational approaches. For instance, when engaging with an elderly woman feeding pigeons, players can adopt different tones, influencing the interaction’s outcome.

The developers plan to launch a Kickstarter campaign to support the project, with a page already live on the platform. While no release date is set, excitement grows among fans of story-driven RPGs.

Notably, Hopetown joins other Disco Elysium-inspired projects. Studios Dark Math Games and Summer Eternal are also developing their own psychological RPGs, enriching the genre’s landscape.
