Treyarch Unveils "The Tomb," a New Map for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies, in 115 Day Celebration

Treyarch is marking 115 Day with a flurry of announcements for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies, including the highly anticipated reveal of a new map: The Tomb. This annual January 15th event treats Call of Duty fans to a comprehensive blog post detailing upcoming zombie-themed surprises.

The centerpiece of today's announcements is The Tomb, a desert-themed Zombies map launching with Season 2 on January 28th. This marks another significant addition to the Zombies universe, following Season 1's Citadelle des Morts.

Following the harrowing events of Citadelle des Morts, the story continues as Weaver, Grey, Carver, and Maya heed Gabriel Krafft's final instructions, leading them to an excavation site to secure the Sentinel Artifact. Treyarch describes the location: "Built upon ancient burial grounds potentially dating back to 2500 B.C.E., these catacombs remained undisturbed for centuries until the early 1900s... and what lies beneath may be far more profound than anyone could have imagined."

While details remain scarce, The Tomb is shrouded in mystery and linked to a British archaeologist, Sir Archibald Fotherington-Smythe. Gameplay-wise, Treyarch promises an experience reminiscent of Liberty Falls—a compact map emphasizing replayability and hidden Easter eggs.

Season 2 also introduces a reimagined Wonder Weapon, drawing inspiration from previous iterations, and the return of a beloved SMG.

Further enhancements include much-requested quality-of-life improvements. Players can now track up to 10 Calling Card and 10 Camo challenges across Zombies and Multiplayer. A co-op pause feature is added for Zombies, allowing the party leader to pause gameplay. Separate HUD presets for Zombies and Multiplayer will be implemented, and players can rejoin Zombies matches with their loadouts if disconnected.

To celebrate 115 Day, Black Ops 6 players receive double GobbleGum earn rates and double player, weapon, and battle pass XP until 10 AM PT on January 21st. Treyarch also shared impressive statistics for Directed Mode, revealing over 480 million hours played. The team notes that Directed Mode has significantly increased the average Main Quest completion rate, more than doubling it since its launch.

The upcoming release of The Tomb will also be notable for the return of some much-loved Zombies characters, following a recent recasting due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike.
