Mark Hamill Reveals Hilarious BAFTA Wardrobe Malfunction with Demi Moore

Star Wars icon Mark Hamill experienced an unexpected fashion mishap during the 2025 BAFTA ceremony - and shared how fellow Hollywood legend Demi Moore reacted in real-time.

Appearing on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, Hamill described his pants dramatically slipping down during his presentation as "every actor's worst nightmare."

The wardrobe disaster unfolded as he approached the podium to present the Best Film award to Conclave. Surprisingly, Hamill revealed the trousers seemed fine during fittings prior to the event.

"We tested these pants twice. First at my California home, where my stylist asked how they fit. I said, 'Fine - maybe slightly tight, but wearable. Could loosen them a tad,'" the actor explained during his appearance promoting Mike Flanagan's upcoming The Life of Chuck.

PlayThe situation escalated dramatically moments before the ceremony. "We're in London with the car waiting when I try them on again," Hamill continued. "Suddenly they're four inches too big! Our wardrobe specialist Mary saved the day temporarily with safety pins."

True to showbiz superstition, the temporary fix failed spectacularly. "As I walked to the podium, I felt the pin burst open," he told Colbert. "With each step, my pants slipped lower until they were practically around my knees!"

Scanning the audience for his wife, Hamill instead locked eyes with Demi Moore. His silent lip-read question - "Did you see my pants?" - was met with Moore's beaming smile and enthusiastic thumbs-up.

Channeling Jedi-like composure, Hamill powered through. "I mentally projected to the audience, 'You saw nothing - it's just your imagination,'" he joked on the show. "I focused entirely on the teleprompter and refused to acknowledge it."

The BAFTA director later revealed the podium blocked the frontal view, but side audiences got the full comedy show of Hamill's drooping trousers. The actor made sure Colbert's audience knew history wouldn't repeat itself: "Tonight, my pants aren't going anywhere!"

In related Star Wars news, Hamill has definitively closed the door on reprising Luke Skywalker as a Force ghost, suggesting the franchise should focus on new characters rather than nostalgic cameos.
