Master the Demon's Hand Card Game Strategy in League of Legends

by Julian May 15,2025

*League of Legends* has launched an exciting new minigame within its client, available until the end of April. If you're familiar with *Balatro*, you'll find the gameplay of Demon’s Hand in *League of Legends* quite intuitive.

League of Legends Demon’s Hand Set-Up and Getting Started

To dive into this engaging card game, ensure your *League* client is updated to the latest version. From there, click the Play button, navigate to the game type menu, and select Demon’s Hand. You'll be greeted with an introductory story before jumping into your first round.

On your screen, your hand of cards is displayed at the bottom. In the bottom right corner, you'll see your health, coins, and critical hit chance. Just above that, there's a Sigil box where you can have up to six active Sigils at once, although you start with none. Keep in mind, your health doesn't regenerate automatically after each battle. To restore it, visit the tent locations on the map, which will replenish a percentage of your health.

The enemy card appears at the top of the screen, with its health displayed in the bottom right and damage in the bottom left. To the left of the enemy card, you'll find an attack coin, indicating how many hands you can play before the enemy strikes back. On the left edge of the screen, there's a book that lists all possible hands you can play and their standard damage values.

How To Play Demon’s Hand in League of Legends

In Demon’s Hand, you'll be playing poker hands to deal damage, each with unique names but familiar mechanics. The ultimate goal is to achieve The Demon’s Hand, which is a royal flush. Here's a breakdown of the hands you can play along with their poker equivalents and base damage:

  • Solo = High Card (10 Base Damage)
  • Dyad = Pair (20 Base Damage)
  • Dyad Set = Two Pair (40 Base Damage)
  • Triad = Three of a Kind (80 Base Damage)
  • Tetrad = Four of a Kind (100 Base Damage)
  • March = Straight (125 Base Damage)
  • Horde = Flush (175 Base Damage)
  • Grand Warhost = Full House (400 Base Damage)
  • Marching Horde = Straight Flush (600 Base Damage)
  • The Demon’s Hand = Royal Flush (2000 Base Damage)

Alongside the base damage, the numerical value of each card contributes to the total damage. However, if an enemy has a special ability that negates a particular suit, cards of that suit will be crossed out and won't add their value to the damage.

Spice Up Your Attacks with Sigils

Sigils are key to enhancing your gameplay. You can purchase them during store phases, marked by coins on the map, which you earn by defeating enemies. Each Sigil offers unique abilities, visible when you hover over them in the store or during play. Some Sigils might boost the damage of specific hands, like Dyads, while others could provide additional turns between enemy attacks or reduce incoming damage.

That's everything you need to know to start playing the Demon’s Hand card game in *League of Legends*. If this minigame isn't your cup of tea, keep an eye out for the upcoming April Fools skins to enjoy in Summoner’s Rift.
