Valorant Implements Anti-Cheat Updates After Major Ban Wave

Valorant's New Strategy Against Hackers: Implementing Ranked Rollbacks

Valorant is taking a strong stand against the recent surge in hackers by introducing a new feature called ranked rollbacks. This measure is designed to reverse the progress or rank of players if their match is affected by cheaters, aiming to penalize those who engage in unfair play and promote a more balanced experience for all Valorant players. Importantly, players who find themselves on the same team as hackers will retain their rank rating, ensuring they do not suffer unfairly from the situation.

Phillip Koskinas, Valorant's head of anti-cheat, has publicly addressed the cheating issue, emphasizing Riot's commitment to combatting it. He warned cheaters that Riot now has the ability to "hit so much harder" with their new strategies. Koskinas shared a chart on Twitter illustrating the significant number of cheaters banned by Riot's Vanguard system in January, with a peak on January 13, showcasing the system's effectiveness.

Riot Games' Future Valorant Bans Will Include Ranked Rollbacks

In response to a player's concern about the fairness of winning a match with a cheater on their team, Koskinas clarified that while the enemy team will have their rank rating restored, players on the same team as the hacker will keep their rating. He acknowledged that this approach might lead to some inflation in rank ratings but expressed confidence in moving forward with this strategy.

Valorant's Vanguard system, known for its kernel-level security clearance on PCs, has been highly effective in detecting and banning cheaters. Its success has inspired other popular games, such as Call of Duty, to adopt similar anti-cheat measures. Despite these efforts, cheaters continue to find new ways to infiltrate games, necessitating ongoing vigilance and innovation from game developers.

Riot Games has already banned thousands of players in their fight against hackers, demonstrating a strong commitment to maintaining the integrity of Valorant's competitive environment. While the effectiveness of the new ranked rollback feature remains to be seen, it represents a proactive step towards ensuring fair play and enhancing the gaming experience for all players.
