Mastering the Voodoo Doll in Phasmophobia: A Guide to its Use and Risks

Phasmophobia's Cursed Possessions offer shortcuts to identifying ghosts, but at a cost. The Voodoo Doll is a prime example, offering a potentially high reward but significant risk. This guide details how to obtain and utilize this item effectively.

The Voodoo Doll's primary function is to provoke the ghost into revealing evidence. By inserting pins, you can trigger actions like EMF5 readings or UV traces, particularly useful with elusive spirits.

Ten pins are available, each insertion costing 5% sanity. Inserting all pins risks a 50% sanity loss, increasing vulnerability to ghost hunts. The critical risk? The heart pin. Hitting it triggers an immediate, extended Cursed Hunt (20 seconds longer than normal), significantly impacting your survival chances.

Despite the risks, the Voodoo Doll's evidence-gathering potential can be invaluable for experienced players. Careful planning and team coordination are key to mitigating the risks.

Cursed Possessions (or Cursed Objects) are unique items spawning randomly across Phasmophobia maps (frequency influenced by difficulty and Challenge Mode). Unlike standard equipment, they manipulate ghost behavior but at increased risk to your character. The choice to use them is entirely strategic; there's no penalty for ignoring them. Only one spawns per contract (unless modified in Custom settings).

Seven Cursed Objects exist:

  • Haunted Mirror
  • Voodoo Doll
  • Music Box
  • Tarot Cards
  • Ouija Board
  • Monkey Paw
  • Summoning Circle
