Battle of Sudoku: A Multiplayer Sudoku Showdown

Love Sudoku and crave some friendly competition? Battle of Sudoku is a multiplayer version of the classic puzzle game, pitting you against other players or teams. The goal remains the same: fill a 9x9 grid with digits so each column, row, and 3x3 subgrid contains all numbers from 1 to 9.

Before diving in, you can adjust the difficulty (1-6, 1 being easiest, 6 hardest) in the game options. This sets the initial numbers on the grid, which all players must solve simultaneously. Everyone starts with the identical puzzle.

Game Modes:

The game offers two modes, selectable in the options:

• "Show correct numbers of your opponent": Each correctly placed number is visible to all players, earning you points. You can't place a number already used by another player; speed and accuracy are key.
• "Hide correct numbers of your opponent": Players only see their own grid. Multiple players can earn points for the same correct number.

Time-Outs:

Incorrect entries result in a time-out, preventing you from playing while others continue. The duration is customizable (default: 30 seconds).

Scoring:

Correct numbers earn points, with higher difficulty levels awarding more points per correct entry. Incorrect entries cost you points (half the value of a correct entry).

Winning:

The game ends when the puzzle is completely solved. The player with the most points wins. If the "show correct numbers" option is disabled, the game ends when one player solves it, though this doesn't grant extra points; others can still win by making fewer mistakes.

Team vs. Individual Play:

Team mode lets two teams compete. Upon joining, select your team (1 or 2). At least two players per team are required. Points are tallied for the team, and notes/colors are shared among teammates, enabling collaborative strategies.

Solving Tools:

A toolbar under the puzzle offers:

• Pen Tool: Add notes (mini-numbers) to squares. Selecting a number already present removes it.
• Fill Mode: Change the background color of squares.
