Chinese Pooping (Boerenbridge) Card Game: Rules and Scoring

Objective: The goal of Chinese Pooping, also known as Boerenbridge, is to accurately predict and achieve the number of "strokes" (tricks) you will win in each round of the game.

Game Setup and Play:

• The game is played with a standard deck of cards.
• The number of players can vary, but for this explanation, we'll assume a five-player game.
• The game consists of multiple rounds, starting with one card dealt to each player in the first round, two cards in the second round, and so on, up to a maximum of 10 cards per player in a five-player game.
• After reaching the maximum number of cards, the number of cards dealt per round decreases back to one card per player.

Bidding and Trump:

• Each round begins with players bidding on the number of strokes they expect to win. Bidding starts with the player to the left of the dealer.
• The highest bidder determines the trump suit for that round.
• The dealer, who bids last, must ensure that the total number of strokes bid by all players does not equal the total number of cards dealt in that round. For example, if seven cards are dealt, the dealer cannot bid a number that would make the total bids equal to seven.

Scoring:

• Points are awarded based on how accurately players predict their strokes.
• If a player correctly predicts the number of strokes they win, they score points equal to the number of strokes they bid.
• If a player overbids or underbids, they lose points equal to the number of strokes they bid.
• The game continues through all rounds, and the player with the highest total points at the end of the last round wins.

Example Scoring:

• Round 1: Player A bids 1 stroke and wins 1 stroke. Player A scores 1 point.
• Round 2: Player B bids 2 strokes but wins only 1 stroke. Player B loses 2 points.
• Round 3: Player C bids 3 strokes and wins 3 strokes. Player C scores 3 points.
