Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Update Reverses Controversial Zombies Change
Treyarch has addressed player concerns regarding recent changes to Black Ops 6's Zombies mode. A new update reverses a controversial alteration to Directed Mode, bringing back the original zombie spawn rate. The update also includes significant improvements to the Shadow Rift Ammo Mod and bug fixes for the Citadelle des Morts map. Further fixes are planned for the Season 2 update on January 28th.
The January 3rd update to Black Ops 6 introduced changes to Directed Mode on Citadelle des Morts, notably extending the time between rounds and delaying zombie spawns after five looped rounds. This negatively impacted players' ability to farm kills and complete camo challenges, leading to widespread community backlash. Concerns were raised about potential further limitations to XP and rewards.
The January 9th patch notes confirm the reversal of the spawn delay change in Directed Mode, restoring it to approximately 20 seconds after five looped rounds. Treyarch acknowledged the initial change was not well-received and prioritized restoring a more enjoyable and rewarding experience. Additional fixes address glitches and bugs within Directed Mode, including issues with quest progression and visual effects.
Furthermore, the Shadow Rift Ammo Mod receives substantial buffs:
- Increased Activation Rates: Normal enemy activation increased to 20%, special enemy to 7%, and elite enemy (with Big Game Augment) to 7%.
- Reduced Cooldown: Cooldown timer decreased by 25%.
These changes aim to significantly enhance the effectiveness and enjoyment of the Shadow Rift Ammo Mod.
The January 28th Season 2 update will include further bug fixes and adjustments. Until then, players can still work towards completing the Citadelle des Morts main quest and earn rewards before Season 1 Reloaded concludes.
