Marvel Rivals Players Propose Enhancements to Proficiency Rewards System
Summary
- Fans criticize Marvel Rivals for difficulty in obtaining nameplates without spending money.
- A Reddit user proposed converting Lore Banners into nameplate rewards to address the issue.
- Players argue that Proficiency rewards should include nameplates to showcase skill and mastery.
Marvel Rivals fans are voicing their concerns about the game's reward system, particularly the challenges in obtaining nameplates without spending real money. A Reddit user, DaPurpleDerpleOf, proposed a solution to this issue by suggesting the conversion of Lore Banners into nameplate rewards. Additionally, players believe that Proficiency Points, which are earned by playing and mastering characters, should also unlock nameplates to reflect their skills and dedication.
Since its launch in December 2024, Marvel Rivals has quickly gained attention, culminating in the recent release of its Season 1 update. The game debuted with its Season 0 cycle, offering a modest selection of rewards and skins. However, Season 1 significantly expands the battle pass with ten character skins and various other customization options like nameplates, sprays, and emotes. Despite this, the community's dissatisfaction with the availability of nameplates has sparked considerable discussion.
DaPurpleDerpleOf's post on the Marvel Rivals fan hub highlighted the issue with how Lore Banners and nameplates are distributed. Nameplates, which serve as a prominent way for players to express their individuality, often require a significant grind through the battle pass or real money purchases. Some fans even prefer the aesthetic appeal of Lore Banners over nameplates, leading to the suggestion of converting Lore Banners into nameplate rewards.
Marvel Rivals Fans Criticize Game's Reward System
In addition to the battle pass, Marvel Rivals features a Proficiency Points system. These points are earned by engaging with the game's characters, dealing damage, and defeating opponents. While the system offers various rewards, fans argue that nameplates should be included to better reflect players' proficiency and mastery. "Proficiency rewards are super lacking. I hope they add more tiers and rewards down the line," one player commented, with another calling the addition of nameplates a "no-brainer." Including nameplates as part of the Proficiency rewards would not only be satisfying but also a fitting way to showcase player skill.
The Season 1 update of Marvel Rivals brought significant changes, including the introduction of Sue Storm and Mister Fantastic from The Fantastic Four, along with new maps and modes. These additions have refreshed the gameplay experience, and the rest of The Fantastic Four are expected to join the roster later. Season 1 is set to continue until mid-April, giving players ample time to explore the new content and hopefully see improvements to the reward system.
