Stellar Blade Sequel Confirmed by Developer

by Elijah Jun 11,2025

Exciting news for fans of *Stellar Blade*—developer Shift Up has officially confirmed that a full-fledged sequel is in development. The action-packed PlayStation-published title made its debut in April 2024 to widespread acclaim, praised for its intense gameplay mechanics that drew comparisons to titles like *NieR: Automata* and *Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice*.

Shift Up revealed the sequel as part of a strategic roadmap included in its latest financial report. A presentation slide outlining future franchise developments clearly lists the *Stellar Blade* sequel as the next major project on the horizon, slated for release before 2027.

What’s Next Before the Sequel?

Before the sequel arrives, Shift Up mentioned a planned "platform expansion" for the original game. This is widely believed to refer to the upcoming PC version of *Stellar Blade*, scheduled for release on June 11, 2025. This expansion will allow more players to experience the game outside of PlayStation platforms.

In addition to the *Stellar Blade* sequel, Shift Up also teased other projects, including the enigmatic *Project Witches*, a new multiplatform action RPG currently under wraps. More details about this title are expected in the coming years.

Steam Region Lock Controversy

Earlier in the week, Shift Up addressed concerns regarding a puzzling region lock issue affecting the Steam store page for *Stellar Blade*. The game's page was mysteriously blocked in over 100 countries, prompting confusion among global fans. The developer stated it is “closely discussing” the matter with Sony to resolve the issue swiftly.

Critical Reception and Gameplay Highlights

Stellar Blade stands out as a gorgeous and well-crafted action game with very impressive strengths and very clear weaknesses,” wrote IGN in its official review. While the game’s narrative and character depth were seen as lacking, and some RPG elements felt underdeveloped—especially repetitive side quests—the core gameplay shined brightly.

The combat system, heavily inspired by *Sekiro*, delivers tight, responsive controls and a variety of grotesque enemies to battle. Exploration is also rewarded with hidden secrets scattered throughout the game world, encouraging players to dig deeper into its environments.
