Activision reports a significant boost in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies main quest completion rates thanks to the introduction of Directed Mode. While many players prioritize survival in the wave-based Zombies mode, Directed Mode has successfully engaged a larger portion of the player base with the game's overarching narrative.

Since its inception in World at War, the Call of Duty Zombies mode has featured a complex, evolving storyline. Black Ops 6 continues this tradition, but the game's overall player count has decreased since launch. Despite this, the Zombies mode retains a dedicated community. However, the focus on wave survival often overshadows the story for many players.

The Season 1 update introduced Directed Mode, a game changer for narrative engagement. Data reveals an impressive increase in main quest completion, jumping from 4% to 8.23%. This is based on a staggering 480 million hours of gameplay, with a small portion logged since Directed Mode's November 14th release. This doubling of completions validates Treyarch's design goals for the mode.

While a significant improvement, Treyarch acknowledges that over 90% of players still haven't finished the main quest. They are committed to exploring further improvements to increase engagement with the story.
