"Oblivion Remake Keeps Classic Voice Error"
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered revitalizes one of Bethesda's most beloved titles with enhanced visuals, refined gameplay systems, and additional content, yet the development team at Virtuos intentionally preserved one of the original's most memorable quirks.
Longtime Elder Scrolls enthusiasts will instantly recognize Master Speechcraft trainer Tandilwe, the High Elf NPC residing in the Temple of the One within the Imperial City. When Oblivion first launched on PC and Xbox 360 over 19 years ago, players quickly noticed that ironically, Tandilwe herself could benefit from speech training. One particularly notable voice line appears to be an unintentionally included alternate take by actress Linda Kenyon.

As players began exploring the beautifully reimagined Cyrodiil yesterday, many specifically sought confirmation about this iconic moment. While environments, character models, and assets received comprehensive visual upgrades, fans were delighted to discover that many of the original game's charming imperfections remain untouched. Tandilwe's legendary blooper remains completely intact - complete with its absent subtitles, exactly as players remembered it two decades later.

During a 2019 interview with YouTube personality Jake 'The Voice' Parr, Kenyon became aware of her accidental legacy in Oblivion lore, though she maintained: "It wasn't my fault!"
While debate continues among players about whether this Bethesda re-release qualifies more as a remake than a remaster, the preservation of these nostalgic imperfections has resonated with fans. This intentional decision by both Bethesda and Virtuos to maintain the original's character appears successful in appealing to both new audiences and veteran players alike.
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion surprise launched for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S yesterday.
