Marvel Rivals' 30 FPS Damage Bug: A Fix on the Horizon

Players of Marvel Rivals using lower FPS settings have reported significantly reduced damage output for certain heroes, including Dr. Strange and Wolverine. This 30 FPS bug, impacting damage calculations, is currently under active investigation and repair by the development team.

Launched in early December 2025, Marvel Rivals quickly gained popularity in the hero shooter genre, boasting an 80% player approval rating on Steam (over 132,000 reviews). Despite initial hero balance concerns, the game has been well-received.

The recently discovered 30 FPS glitch disproportionately affects several heroes (including Dr. Strange, Magik, Star-Lord, Venom, and Wolverine), diminishing their attack damage at lower frame rates. A community manager on the official Discord server confirmed the issue, noting movement problems at lower FPS which also affect damage. While a complete fix might take time, the team aims to address the problem in the upcoming Season 1 update, slated for January 11th.

Addressing the Root Cause

The root of the problem appears to lie within Marvel Rivals' client-side prediction system. This system, designed to minimize perceived lag, may be the source of the inaccurate damage calculations at lower frame rates.

Although the community manager didn't provide an exhaustive list of affected heroes and abilities, Wolverine's Feral Leap and Savage Claw were specifically mentioned. The effects are more pronounced against stationary targets. While the Season 1 update is expected to improve the situation, a complete resolution may require a subsequent patch if necessary.
